The holidays certainly are the most wonderful time of the year…to get married! So many couples are hesitant to have a December wedding. But, David and Abby knew is was the perfect time of the year to celebrate with their family and friends. Duke Chapel was filled with beautiful azaleas and gorgeous wreaths for the ceremony. For the reception at The Nasher Museum the couple chose bold red linens and gorgeous white flowers, a nod to the holiday season but, not over themed. The most important aspect of the wedding for David and Abby was the food and beer. They actually met at a beer tasting! They chose Sage and Swift to provide food stations with amazing dishes such as bacon, mozarella, and basil quesadillas; vidalia onion and blue cheese tartlets; corn muffins with chicken, avacado, and pico de gallo; Moroccan salmon, and an entire station with Southern favorites of deviled eggs, pulled pork bbq, cole slaw, and hush puppies. They chose local beers including the bride’s favorite, Hogwash Porter from Full Steam Brewery. The wedding was also full of personal touches. I loved the red ribbon sash Abby wore on her gown for the reception. And instead of the traditional wedding guest book the couple chose Mad Libs for the guests to fill in and have a little fun. But, perhaps the most special touch was assorted homemade made candies by the groom’s mother, wrapped in little red boxes with silver bows. They were a huge hit with the guests. Read and enjoy!
