Who says a perfectly gorgeous wedding can’t be planned in just three months? When I first met Abe, Anna, and her lovely mother, Debbie, it was late June and they were hoping for a tented wedding on their family property in September. But, after reviewing the logistics and sloped yard it became apparent they needed to find another venue. Being a Durham native I remembered that just down the street from their home is the beautiful Pleasant Green Methodist Church with the adorable Pleasant Green Community Center across the street. The church was warm and welcoming to hosting Anna and Abe’s ceremony and the community center was available. So away we went with the wedding planning!
From the incredible first look to the sparkler send off, there were so many beautiful details. Pleasant Green Church is a quaint and lovely place. It’s set deep in the woods and was the perfect setting for the intimate and sweet ceremony. A lovely touch to the day was Anna’s Cathedral length veil which was purchased by her grandmother on a trip to Belguim in the early 1970’s. After the ceremony guests took a quick trip across the street to the community center, an old army barrack built in the early 1940’s. The building has a real rustic look. But, with some great lighting, a little fabric draping, and some pretty flowers it can really transform into a beautiful space. Anna chose a color palette of coral, pink, and gold which complimented the warm wood tones and added a touch of glamour. Guests enjoyed a variety of specialty drinks and amazing food from the always fabulous Cafe Parizade. After dinner Anna and Abe opted for a blue grass band to entertain the guests.
