Carrie & Daniel- Coral Inspired Duke Gardens Wedding

Carrie and Daniel were married this past November at Duke Gardens. The location held a special meaning for the couple, they visited there many times while studying at Duke and it was the place where Daniel had proposed just one year earlier.

Carrie and Daniel wanted an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere for their guests to enjoy. For colors they chose warm corals and grays mixed with playful stripes and chevron patterns. I loved Carrie’s dress which was sophisticated yet whimsical with circles and my favorite thing…pockets! After a beautiful afternoon ceremony the guests were invited to cocktail hour on the patio where they enjoyed specialty drinks of Cucumber Collins and Fig Bourbon Fizz. To find their seats guests located their home city on a hand painted US map and followed the path to their name and table number. It was amazing to see how far guests had traveled for their special day. After cocktail hour everyone moved inside for an incredible fall inspired dinner from Durham Catering. Guests enjoyed French onion soup followed by a Bibb lettuce salad with Honeycrip apples, spicy pecans, Carolina Moon cheese and a poppy-seed dressing. For the main entrée guests had a choice of braised beef short ribs served over potato gnocchi with toasted garlic and Swiss chard; a sautéed Halibut over risotto with butternut squash; or stuffed squash with couscous, chickpeas, and feta. Yummy! After dinner guests could choose from two delicious cake flavors; white cake with lemon-raspberry filling or chocolate cake brushed with Kahlua. After all that great food it was time to dance the night away with Frank Meldau of Joe Bunn DJ.
